The forester in winter. (The work 1/3)

This is Charles, a work's colleague. He's a forest technician, like me. In winter, we have to make some surveys. It's easier than in the summer. We're walking faster, it's not so hot and it doesn't have bugs!

Le forestier en hiver
Voici Charles, un collègue de travail. C'est un technicien forestier, comme moi. En hiver, nous faisons différents inventaires. C'est plus facile qu'en été. Nous marchons plus vite, il fait moins chaud et il n'y a pas de mouches!

I've never actually seen anyone wearing snowshoes! What do forest tech's actually do? I mean apart from surveys? I'm curious!

@Bronnie: Hi Bronnie! The survey thad we did on this picture was the verification after the "precommercial thinning". We have to check if the contractor respected all the rules of this kind of harvest. (cutting made in an immature crop or stand primarily to accelerate diameter increment on the favoured trees). You can see on this picture that we are using Ski-Doo to circulate in the forest in winter.

Must be nice getting out into nature for work. I like seeing other jobs besides the ones where people sit behind desks. Right now I sit behind a desk but hope to get out from under it soon :)

Yeah, I can certainly think of worse things to be doing than being out in this scenery and being paid for it. A very natural shot with a beautiful backdrop.

Any job that lets you wear snowshoes or ride around on a Ski-Doo is in my opinion a Good job! And it's a great photo of it. The blackflies would detract from it a bit, though :)
