The forester in summer (The work 3/3)

This is me, who's taking a sample (calling "carrot" in french) of fir to count the age. If my memomy is good, this fir has about 50 years.

La forestière en été
Me voici, prenant un échantillon (carotte) de sapin baumier afin de connaitre son âge. Si ma mémoire est bonne, ce sapin a environ 50 ans.

Nice to meet you, indeed! You look like a true professional - and it looks fun but hard! I remember a naturalist who came to our school when I was small taking a 'carrot' from a tree as you are doing here. I forget what it was called in English.
