This is by far the most beautiful hummingbird shot I have ever seen. Focus, composition, colour, contrast .... just perfect.

Same comment as Helen. This is a wonderful picture. The colours and tone are very soft and well dispatched. The focus is perfectly mastered on the eyes of the bird. The DOF is short enough and gives the focus on the subject.
You can sell it to a nature revue or make posters with it !

7 Jun 2007 3:06pm
Perfect, indeed!! I am so jealous!! LOL I'm still waiting for my friends to return home... I so hope that this year I can get a shot equal to this. Bravo!!!!!!

beautifully sharp shot. great work!
7 Jun 2007 3:39pm
wow! i am amazed! maybe it is true the frame is too tight (the tail and wings are a little bit cut up and down, did you crop it?), but the scene, the colours, the focus, sharpness, everytying else, is incredible! i want a lens like yours (263mm?)!!
7 Jun 2007 4:35pm
@Imarchi: I didn't crop the picture. To obtain this good one, I took about 50 pictures! (and I destroy a lot of them!) I used for this picture a Sigma lense 70-300 mm without image stabilisator. I don't like it and I change for a 70-200mm F4 Canon IS USM. I hope that it will give me more succes than the Sigma!
great shot.. i like how the face of the hummingbird is sharp

Amazing shot! I tried to photograph hummingbirds not long ago and they're definately not the easiest thing to capture :) But you did a great job here. The colors and the composition are just beautiful!

Bravo Martine!

@Nicole: Thanks Nicole!
